 Welcome to Cleckheaton Rotary Club!

What is Rotary?

Rotary International is a global network of service volunteers. It is the world's largest service organisation for business and professional people, with some 1,210,905 members operating in 168 countries world-wide.

There are some 58,000 Rotarians in Great Britain and Ireland in 1,845 clubs, helping those in need and working towards world understanding and peace. It is a fulfilling role, and Rotarians can get involved as much or as little as their time will allow.

But there is much more. Clubs meet on a regular basis, which allows members to build firm friendships. Every Rotarian has a right to attend any Club meeting anywhere in the world, so there is always somewhere to go, and people to meet, wherever business or leisure travel may take you.

How are they involved with Rotaract?

Rotaract clubs are orginally founded by a sponsoring Rotary club. The supporting Rotary club works closely with their Rotaract club, nominating a Rotarian as a Rotaract Liaison provide communication between the Rotary and Rotaract club. The Rotaract Liaison officer usually attends most Rotaract meetings, although there is an open invite for any members to attend meetings.

Rotary and Rotaract undertake joint events, and mutually support each other at events by helping out, for example with a collecting tin, or an extra pair of hands. Rotary attend Rotaract's events such as Charter nights and vice versa.

Cleckheaton Rotary and Rotaract are within District 1040, and attend the annual 1040 conference in October.

Cleckheaton's Rotarians didn't let the Sunday afternoon downpours prevent their enjoyment of the annual President's happening.

Past and present members of Cleckheaton Rotaract joined the celebrations at a member's house. Cleckheaton Rotary President Nick Haigh presented flowers and extended thanks to the hosts!
